An ultrasound guided hyaluronic acid injection contains a natural component of synovial fluid. This tends to increase joint fluid viscosity and restores the joint lubrication. Hence, acts as a shock absorber to control the joint /tendon symptoms.

Ultrasound-guided injections allow the clinician to visualize the needle and needle tip in real-time as it enters the body and navigates to the desired location. This assures that the medication is accurately injected at the intended site.

Beforehand, the procedure will be explained to you, side effects, risks and benefits will be discussed. You will be given an opportunity to discuss any other questions or concerns you may have. If there are any changes in your health or circumstances, you must inform the clinician, before the injection. Get in touch to book your consultation.

Guided ultrasound  Hyaluronic Acid injections

How many Injections do I need? Or Can I have?

Some may need a course of 3 injections and others may need only injection. Since Hyaluronic Acid is a natural synovial fluid there is no restriction on how many you can have, as long as they are working for you. Sometimes HA injections provide no symptomatic relief.

Which part of the body can receive hyaluronic acid injections?

Joints and tendons.

How long do Hyaluronic Acid injections work?

We offer Hyaluronic Acid injections with large particles, which tend to stay longer in the joint and potentially offer symptomatic relief for an extended period of time. If your body responds well to the treatment, you should see the benefits in a few days to weeks and last for a few months. However, the duration of Hyaluronic Acid effect depends on various factors, such as the severity of the problem, lifestyle and type of Hyaluronic Acid preparation.

Are there any side effects and risks?

Hyaluronic Acid injections have very few side effects. Some may experience a slight allergic reaction, temporary flare-up of symptoms, swelling, and no pain relief. Infection is a rare complication. All our injections are Ultrasound guided, hence, ensures accuracy and avoids accidentally injecting into the blood vessels.

Post injection care?

You may require 2 days of relative rest in case of developing bruising pain following injection. Also, try avoiding all strenuous activities for 2 weeks following the injection therapy

If you feel unwell or show signs of infection (swelling, redness, increased temperature, feeling unwell, painful movements) visit your GP or an A and E immediately, and inform about the injection you had. However, Infection is a very rare complication.

How do Hyaluronic Acid injections for TENDON work?

Hyaluronic Acid’s lubricating ability improves the gliding and reduces the stickiness of the tendon fibers. Hyaluronic Acid also blocks pain receptors and hinders inflammatory mediators. Overall it helps to restore the normal tendon features.
